I was thinking about glass today. What an amazing thing has been created from silicone, soda ash, lime and what else? I wonder how it was first discovered.I also wonder at its similarity to clear quartz crystal, how it holds and plays with light. What a concept... solid yet transparent. Wondrous!
Glass is a wonder - sand is one of the main ingredients, so rough and dense - transformed in the fiery furnace to smooth clarity as the silicon in each grain melts freely together. Glass looks cool and clear but it comes from earth and fire.
